Donna Vassallo, the owner of MarketingWorks, began her career as a professional writer in 1985. Her focus is on the business-to-business market, but she also writes for nonprofit and consumer clients.

Prior to forming her own business, Donna was a Marketing Manager at American Express and at Thomas Cook Travel. Before moving to New York, she was a freelance writer in England, where she lived for two years, and was an account manager at two of the largest advertising agencies in her hometown of Boston.

Donna and her business were featured in the book Down to Business by Clara Villarosa, a finalist in the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Non-Fiction. She was also a guest on the Dark Side of the Moon radio program where she discussed the challenges and strategies to be a successful small business owner.

Donna is a member of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce and is President of their Business Referral Group 1. She is the former Board Secretary and Editorial Committee Chair of the New York City Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-NYC) and received both the President’s Award and the Rookie of the Year Award for her work in promoting and supporting the chapter.

She earned a graduate degree in Administration & Management from Harvard University and bachelor’s degree from Holy Cross College. She is also an alumna of the renown Girls’ Latin School in Boston.

An avid runner, Donna has completed 10 marathons including New York (5), Boston (2), Philadelphia (2) and Hartford (1).
